Electrical Safety Recall

LG Energy Solution Australia is undertaking a safety recall for certain residential energy storage system batteries (ESS Home Batteries) equipped with batteries manufactured between 29 March 2017 and 13 September 2018 (Replacement Recall). LG Energy Solution Australia later expanded the recall to include a Diagnostic Software Recall for batteries manufactured between 21 January 2016 to 28 March 2017, and between 14 September 2018 to about 30 June 2019 (Diagnostic Software Recall). A recall notice is available on the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) Product Safety Australia website.

The affected ESS Home Batteries may overheat and catch fire and cause injury or death and/or damage to property. Incidents have occurred and caused damage to property. Models with affected batteries include:

IS YOUR BATTERY SAFE?

LG Energy Solution is reaching out to the contractor community, especially electrical contractors, to assist us in locating batteries affected by our Product Recall.

 

To make the process of checking the battery easier, LG Energy Solution has developed the "Is Your Battery Safe?" app. The app allows you to scan the battery's serial number to ensure safety.

 

The safety of our customers is paramount, and our team is working diligently towards completion of the recalls. The affected batteries have the potential to catch fire, causing serious harm to individuals and properties.  We urge you to act swiftly and responsibly if you encounter any recalled LG branded batteries, including those located within Solax products or other cabinet types. All systems require immediate shut down, so it is crucial to check your battery and act accordingly.
